The Phillies split a pair of games during recent Babe Ruth League action, defeating Northwestern 8-7 and losing a slugfest to the Yankees, 18-17.

Phillies 8,

Northwestern 7

Logan Griffith, Nick Anderson and Terrell Swanson allowed six hits with six strikeouts and nine walks for the Phillies in their win over Northwestern.

Anderson also led the Phillies at the plate with a double, single and RBI. Jacob McGraw singled and had two RBIs; Andrew Erickson knocked in two runs; Braden LaPorte singled in a run; Logan Griffith had a RBI and Robert Stodola and Swanson singled.

Yankees 18, Phillies 17

The Yankees and Phillies combined for 32 hits in a game the Yankees won in the bottom of the eighth innings.

Morgan Moen, Tyler Lehikoinen and Matt Strum worked the mound for the Yankees, finishing with four strikeouts and three walks.

Anderson, Swanson, LaPorte, Griffith and Caden Tchop picked for the Phillies, allowing 10 hits with six strikeouts and13 walks.

Strum was 1-for-3 with three RBIs for the Yankees. Carl Fortune and Morgan Moen each had two hits and two RBIs; Lehikoinen had a hit and knocked in two runs; Evan Willoughby, Nick Luoma and Jack Nindorf had a hit and RBI each; and Drew Heaslip singled.

Tchop was 4-for-4 with five RBIs and four runs scored for the Phillies. Among his hits were a triple and double.

Noah Peterson also had four hits with three RBIs; Erickson had three RBIs and three hits; Nick Anderson and three RBIs with two hits; Griffith was 3-for-5 with two RBIs; McGraw singled twice, Stodola singled and Derek Ronding knocked in a run.

Northwestern 14, Rangers 4

Sammy Martinson was the winning pitcher in the Tigers’ win over the Rangers.

The Tigers touched Ranger pitcher for more than 20 hits, including two triples by Martinson.

The Rangers got a single and two RBIs from Jake Libal, a single and RBI from Michael Johnson and Drew Magdzas and singles from Logan Rowe, Matt Hinaus and Brett Austin.

Reds 15, Brewers 14

Josh Tomczak picked up the win for the Reds, who got two doubles from Blake Graskey, a single and double from Nate Kunkel, and two singles from Dylan Sanda and Tomczak.

There were four lead changes in the game until Foster Stromgren, who walked, scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

The Brewers had 11 hits. No other stats were available.
