MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Madison police say a 38-year-old woman who was run over by a city truck while she was sunbathing at a park has died from her injuries.
The truck was driving on a grassy area of James Madison Park on May 23 when the woman was struck.
Police originally said the woman's injuries weren't considered life-threatening, but her condition deteriorated. Police say the medical examiner's office told them Friday the woman died.
The Wisconsin State Patrol sent a crash-reconstruction team to investigate. The team is trying to determine what the truck driver may or may not have been able to see as she came over a small hill and struck the victim.
An autopsy was being conducted Saturday. The woman's name and cause of death haven't been released.
