It is time to put in action your vegetable garden plans for a productive season.
Join Jane Anklam, UW-Extension horticulture and agriculture educator at 10 a.m. today to learn successful gardening basics and advanced gardening tips at the Superior Housing Authority’s Catlin Green Gardens. The gardens are located behind the Catlin Courts Estates on Catlin Avenue, Superior.
The first session focuses on planting your warm season crops including green beans, broccoli, squashes and cucumbers. Classes will be held every other Friday this summer featuring fresh food nutrition and cooking methods and home gardening topics.
In case of rain, the classes will be held indoors at the Peter Rich Center. Classes are free and open to the public.
“We encourage new and active gardeners to attend these classes. As a community, we need to work together to assure that we can grow our own food ,” explained Anklam. “Hands on demonstrations and sharing what we each have learned as northern- gardeners is the way to go.”
Topics for upcoming classes will be posted prior to each session.
