A Superior man will spend three years in prison and another four years on extended supervision for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
John Anthony Hudacek, 51, pleaded no contest in Douglas County Circuit Court in December to one count felony possession of a firearm by a felon. Two additional counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of second degree recklessly endangering safety were dismissed.
In March, a motion made by Hudacek to withdraw his plea due to ineffective counsel and new evidence was dismissed.
Last week, Hudacek was sentenced by Judge George Glonek to seven years imprisonment, three years of initial confinement and four years of extended supervision. Conditions of supervision include a mental health assessment and chemical dependency evaluation, and follow any recommendations. Hudacek also was ordered to have no contact with two families and their residences.
According to court records, Hudacek has 19 prior criminal convictions, including a fifth offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, second-degree recklessly endangering safety, battery and disorderly conduct.
