Northwestern golfers advance to state tournament

The Northwestern Tigers boys golf team advanced to next week’s WIAA State Tournament with a second-place finish at Tuesday’s sectional meet at the Amery Golf Club. The event was hosted by Unity High School.

Unity finished first with a score of 319. Northwestern was a stroke back at 320 in the 12-team event.

Gabe Dinkel carded a 77 for a fifth-place finish for the Tigers. Justin Alexson was a stroke back in sixth place with a 78; Peter Lindsay tied for 10th place with an 81; Grant Pearson was 19th with an 84; and Josiah Vik tied for 41st with a 90.

The state tournament is Monday and Tuesday at University Ridge in Madison.
