Farmer’s Markets open for the season

The 2012 farmers’ market season in Superior began Saturday at the Barker’s Island Farmers’ Market, which runs 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday near the SS Meteor.

The 2012 farmers’ market season in Superior began Saturday, June 2 at the Barker’s Island Farmers’ Market, which runs 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday near the SS Meteor.

The Superior Downtown Farmers’ Market opens 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the following Wednesday, June 6 in the north parking lot of the Superior Public Library.

“We’ve had an unusually warm spring putting the growing season about two weeks ahead of time,” said Sue Ann Dumke, market manager.

Both markets are managed by the Douglas County Farmers’ Market Association and are open every Saturday and Wednesday through October, rain or shine. All products at the markets are locally grown, raised or made. For information, call (715) 372-8441.
