A friend who is a retired DNR employee sent me an email he received that states I got this from a teacher. Well that sent red flags to me right there.
This email originated on May 17 from a lady that belongs to two liberal groups a Blog called Badger Democracy and Wisconsin Citizen Media Co-op, both anti-Walker groups on the social media internet.
Now here is the issue. This email I received took an old news article about James Kroll, the person Wisconsin hired to see how our deer herd can be managed better, and in it gave this title: Walker to Deer Hunters: Pay Up or Get Lost.
In the email, they claim that Kroll would make Wisconsin like Texas, all game farms, and that there would be no public land to hunt on anymore in Wisconsin — it would be all managed.
Like all internet urban type legends, they take something and twist it to sound good even though it is all lies. Now when I got this email I went to work and contacted Kroll’s group, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Governor’s Office, and the NRA. I did this because the email was a direct scare tactic to try to sway deer hunters from voting for Gov. Scott Walker who cares about Wisconsin hunting traditions and gun rights.
I felt the truth had to get out. In doing so Kroll sent out a media blast to many outlets crying foul against his good name and reputation, which this email smeared in its attempt to attack Walker. This email tried to spread misinformation about what Wisconsin is going to do about managing the deer herd and stated that there would not be any more public land and it would all be like Texas, which is a lie. Period.
Kroll says in his rebuttal that Wisconsin is not like Texas and what works for Texas does not in Wisconsin. Deer hunters be assured Walker or Kroll are not gonna take away public hunting lands in Wisconsin.
