Donald L. Lisdahl, 80, lifelong Superior resident, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at his cabin in Iron River, Wis.

Donald L. Lisdahl, 80, lifelong Superior resident, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at his cabin in Iron River, Wis.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1931, in Superior, to Hjalmer and Elsie (Anderson) Lisdahl.

He graduated from the former Central High School. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard.

Donald married Nancy Nault on Nov. 6, 1954, in the St. Louis Parish, Superior and celebrated 57 years of marriage.

He worked for the Superior Fire Department for 33 years retiring as Assistant Chief.

Donald attended and supported Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was a member of the Superior Retired Firefighters Association and a former member of the Superior Elk's Lodge 403.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed woodworking, working with stained glass, gardening and cooking. He also loved spending time with family and friends at their cabin on Deep Lake in Iron River.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, Superior; two daughters, Vicki (Jeff) Olson and Jennifer (Shawn) Christianson, both of Superior, five sons, Donald Lisdahl, Jr, Superior, Darrell (Laura) Lisdahl, Webster, Wis., Dale (Vicki) Lisdahl and Douglas Lisdahl, both of Superior and Brian (Lisa Lull) Lisdahl, Foxboro; 18 grandchildren, Donald III, Andrew, Jennifer, Nickolas, Amy, Chad, Cory, Lee, Alex, Jamie, Ashley, Jessica, Rian, Karlie, Kendra, Ty, Weston and Shay and 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean (Marv Rood) Brittan, New Hope, Minn. and several nieces and nephews.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Laverne "Spot" Lysdahl.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. , Friday, June 1 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and continue until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial with Rev. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Pallbearers for the service will be Donald's grandchildren.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
