Tigers' Nelson, Naumann, Holly win sectional titles

Northwestern advances to state track meet in seven events

Tess Nelson, Mike Naumann and Logan Holly won sectional championships to lead the Northwestern Tigers at Thursday night’s WIAA Sectional Meet in Medford.

Nelson and Naumann won their respective 300-meter hurdle events and Holly won the girls pole vault for the right to compete in next weekend’s WIAA State Meet at UW-La Crosse.

Nelson also advanced to state by finishing second in the 100 hurdles and Naumann is a member of the 4x200-meter relay, which finished third. Joining Naumnn on the 4x200 relay are Alex Reynolds, Mike Parkins and Zak Anttila.

Also advancing to state for the Tigers are Jordan Johnson, who took fourth in the 1,600; and the boys 4x100 relay, which finished second.

Members of the 4x100 relay team are Duncan Magerl, Reynolds, Parkins and Anttila.

The NHS girls finished in fifth place as a team and the boys were ninth. Osceola won the girls team title and Nekoosa was the top boys team.

The state track meet is June 1-2 at UW-La Crosse.
