Madelyn Swanson and Zach Reiswig, juniors at Superior High School, were selected as the Superior Optimists Club Youth Optimists for May.
Madelyn participates in SHS varsity dance, swim and dive teams, and Spartan Singers. She has twice been a youth delegate for Superior Days in Madison and is a member of Bayside Baptist Church. Her plans for after high school are to attend college to pursue a degree related to nursing or dental hygiene. She is the daughter of Mike and Theresa Swanson.
Zach participates in SHS tennis and hockey. He is a member of Superior-Douglas County Youth Leadership, serves as a junior mentor, and has competed in the UWS youth math contest. In the past, he was a student council member and attended the Junior National Young Leaders’ Conference. After high school, he hopes to attend college part time while playing junior level ice hockey, and later attend full-time to obtain a degree in computer sciences and Asian studies. Zach is the son of Mark and Lynn Reiswig.
The students have been joining the Optimist Club for weekly luncheon meetings. They will have the opportunity next fall to apply for a $1,000 community service award sponsored by the club.
