Wisconsin board to consider expanding trail camera use

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Natural Resources Board is poised to once again consider allowing the public to leave trail cameras overnight on state land.

It's currently illegal to leave trail cameras overnight on land managed by the Department of Natural Resources, but as the cameras have increased in popularity outdoor lovers have been pressing the agency to soften its stance.

The Natural Resources Board considered the question last December but held off on a decision, instead asking the Wisconsin Conservation Congress to vote on it. The congress, a group of influential sportsmen who advise the DNR, approved the idea this spring.

The board is set to take up the matter during a meeting Wednesday in Madison.
