The Solon Springs baseball team improved to 12-7 overall and 11-3 in the Indianhead Conference with an 8-2 win over Drummond Monday evening in Solon Springs.
The loss drops Drummond to 9-6 and 9-4.
Tyler Long won his fourth straight game on the mound for the Eagles, allowing three hits with 11 strikeouts. Only one of the Lumberjacks’ runs was earned.
Long also had a good game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple and run scored.
Kevin Zamzow added a double and single; Phil Larson doubled; Cody Utyro tripled, singled and knocked in two runs; Joe Androsky singled and scored twice; and Corey Utyro singled and knocked in a run.
In Long’s last four outings he had allowed 13 hits with 38 strikeouts in 25 innings. On offense during that same stretch he had 14 hits, including five doubles, 13 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
“Tyler’s pitching, as well as hit hot bat, has been the key to our eight-game conference win streak,” SSHS coach Nate Ahlberg said.
The Eagles host Washburn/South Shore at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
