Senior shortstop Steve Anderson was named the most valuable player on the UW-Superior baseball team, coach Carl Vergamini announced. Anderson, who led UWS at the plate, posted a .454 batting average. Gary Fritch, the ace of the Yellowjacket staff, was named defensive player of the year. He ended the season with a 5-1 record and a 1.28 ERA over 38 innings on the mound. Outfielder Bernie LaValley was selected as rookie of the year. (1976)

Todd Savoy rolled a four-game series of 936 to top the field of 51 entrants in the Landmark Lanes first annual scratch bowling tournament. Rick Zowin was runner-up at 913 and Dennis Savoy placed third with a count of 898. (1982)
