TUPELO, Miss. (AP) — Charlotte Crump says there's definitely much more interest in auctions at the self-storage business she manages since such auctions became the subject of a reality TV show.

She says a handful of people used to show up at auctions for the StorageMax she runs in Tupelo. She tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal that since "Storage Wars" debuted two years ago, she now sees 30 or more people.

On the show, the highest bidder pays cash — anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.

Crump and other storage managers say that in Northeast Mississippi, winning bids range from tens to a few hundred dollars.

They also say they do all they can to avoid auctions, negotiating payments and using other options.
