The Superior High School girls soccer team defeated Somerset 5-1 Tuesday afternoon in Somerset.
Superior scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of play and added another just before halftime to take a 3-1 lead. The SHS girls then added a pair of goals in the second half to clinch the win.
Amber Holt scored two goals to lead Superior, while Kelsey Hansen and Ally Gotelaere both contributed one goal and one assist apiece. Nicole Manion had Superior’s other goal, and Kailey Buhr finished with two assists.
Sara Balcer had three saves in goal to earn the win, and Somerset’s Natalie Moses finished with 19 saves.
Cassie Schmidt scored Somerset’s only point, an unassisted goal coming at 25:52 in the first half.
Superior improves to 7-6-1 overall and 7-3-1 in the Middle Border Conference with the win, while Somerset falls to 0-11-1 and 0-10-1.
The Superior Spartans host a pair of home games to close out the week, facing New Richmond at 4:30 p.m. Thursday and then Ashland at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
