The Duluth Transit Authority plans to detour Route No. 16 buses to Bong Bridge for service from Superior to Duluth during first phase of Blatnik Bridge construction starting Monday.

The Duluth Transit Authority plans to detour Route No. 16 buses to Bong Bridge for service from Superior to Duluth during first phase of Blatnik Bridge construction starting Monday.

Due to the construction on the Blatnik Bridge’s Duluth-bound lane, Route 16 buses that run between Duluth and Superior will use the Bong Bridge to head to Duluth.

The Blatnik Bridge construction and Route 16 detours could continue until mid-July. The DTA does not anticipate any major delays in. Passengers should expect buses to run as scheduled.

The Duluth bound run takes Winter Street, Banks Avenue, Belknap Street, Bong Bridge, and Interstate 35 west to Mesaba Avenue to exit to Superior Street and its regular route.

Superior bound buses are unaffected by the closure.

North End Superior passengers traveling to Duluth will have to board the bus coming from Duluth and bound for downtown Superior/Itasca. Timely connections can be made by transferring on Tower Avenue to Duluth bound Route 16 buses.

Garfield Avenue and Goodwill Industries service to downtown Duluth will depart from Goodwill Industries at 12:15 p.m., 3:40 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. With these exceptions, passengers wishing to travel to downtown Duluth are advised to take a Route 16 bus to Superior and transfer on Tower Avenue to the Route 16 Duluth-Superior bus traveling to Duluth.
