ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota House is poised to take a dramatic vote on a new Vikings stadium.
The chamber took up a bill for the nearly $1 billion stadium on Monday afternoon, with debate expected to stretch into the evening.
Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak says stadium supporters have the momentum after years of failed attempts to pass a bill. Gov. Mark Dayton is scheduled to appear at a rally Monday afternoon with Vikings players.
Rep. Morrie Lanning, the stadium bill's sponsor, says the Vikings are likely to leave the state if the vote doesn't go their way.
The House vote will serve as the first test for a proposal that must also clear the Senate and might face House-Senate negotiations before another round of votes.
