Three injured in car-truck crash in Bayfield County

A 39-year-old Ashland woman and two children, ages 6 and 7, were taken to Memorial Medical Center in Ashland after a collision with a truck at the intersection of State Highway 13 and U.S. Highway 2 in the town of Barksdale.

The driver of the truck, a 57-year-old Hurley man was not injured in the crash.

According to a news release issued by the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department, the woman entered the intersection while traveling south on Highway 13. She was struck by the truck, which was westbound around 1:40 p.m.

Both children were wearing seatbelts and seated in the back of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The woman and children’s injuries were understood to be minor, the sheriff’s department reported.

The intersection is under construction and the truck driver was working in the construction zone.

The accident remains under investigation.

Responding to the accident was the city of Ashland Fire Department, Washburn Fire Department, Washburn Area Ambulance Service and officers of the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office.
