Eagle baseball team wins two games

The Solon Springs baseball team improved to 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the Indianhead Conference with a 15-0, five-inning win over the Bayfield Trollers Thursday evening in Bayfield (2-7, 2-7).

The Eagles started the week with a 26-7 win over Butternut Monday in Solon Springs.

Tyler Long was the winning pitcher Thursday, allowing one hit with 11 srtikeouts.

He also led the Eagles offensively with two doubles and five RBIs.

Solon Springs also got two hits apiece from Phillip Larson and Cody and Caleb Utyro; three runs from Kevin Zamzow and two runs each from Brett Missinne, Caleb Utryo and Mac Ohm.

Larson was the winning pitcher on Monday, allowing three earned runs with four strikeouts in three innings. He also doubled and singled on offense.

Also for the Eagles, Zamzow doubled twice, singled and knocked in two runs; Cody Utyro tripled, singled, drove in two runs and scored three others; Joe Androsky and Corey Utyro each doubled, singled and had two RBIs; Caleb Utyro was 3-for-4 with two RBIs; Justin Andren was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Riley Gibson was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

The Eagles host Hurley for two games at 4 p.m. Monday. They then play at Mellen on Thursday and host Mellen in a make-up game on Friday. Both games with Mellen begin at 4:30 p.m.
