Nextera Communications expands wireless services to Twin Ports

Nextera Communications, a wireless voice and data communication provider, is planning to expand its wireless services to the Duluth area.

With its fixed wireless business network, Nextera is helping local businesses accommodate today’s fast-paced technology-driven world by offering more bandwidth.

Nextera has more than 60 towers throughout the Twin Cities, and will soon be expanding into Duluth and Superior, providing businesses with an alternative to traditional telecommunication circuits. Businesses can use it for their primary connection or combine it with traditional wired circuits creating a backup to ensure business continuity.

Because Nextera’s fixed wireless networks use towers rather than underground cables, there is no risk of outages due to fiber cuts and installation is fast and unobtrusive.

“This is the next generation of phone and Internet service,” said Greg Arvig, president of Nextera. “Trends show two-thirds of all businesses in the United States will be looking to increase their bandwidth in the next 12 months in order to keep up with the latest technology.”

Nextera’s wireless broadband WiMax service will combine fixed wireless with IP-based voice technology and offer options from 1.5 to 6 Megabits of bandwidth with voice prioritization, while point-to-point solutions will offer speeds of up to 1 Gigabyte to Duluth-area businesses.

“We’ve partnered with health care facilities, financial institutions, hotels and other businesses around the state to provide secure, reliable, cost effective business solutions,” said Arvig.

Nextera is based in the Brainerd and Baxter areas of Minnesota with offices in Duluth, Minnetonka and St. Cloud, providing customized, secure telecommunications services and local customer service to small and mid-sized businesses throughout Minnesota.
