The Northwood softball team came back from a six-point deficit Friday to defeat Drummond 10-9 in a non-conference game.
Drummond took a 7-1 lead in the top of the third inning with three runs in the first and two each in the second and third innings. The Evergreens then rallied in the bottom of the third inning with five runs to make it 7-6 in favor of Drummond.
Teagen Harings started the comeback with a leadoff single, and McKayla Waggoner followed with a bunt single. Molly Linden moved both runners up with a sacrifice, and Lisa Featherly brought them home with a two-run double. Nicole Block continued the Evergreens’ strong hitting with a triple that scored Featherly, and TeLaura Harings added another triple to score Block.
Both team were held scoreless in the fourth inning, and in the fifth Northwood took its first lead of the game with three runs on three hits and a sac fly. Drummond came back to tie the game at 9-9 with two runs in the sixth before Northwood claimed the win in the seventh with a hit and an error.
Teagen Harings earned the pitching win in seven innings, allowing nine hits while striking out seven and walking one.
As a team, the Evergreens had seven errors on Friday.
Featherly led Northwood, going 4-for-4 with three RBIs. TeLara Harings went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Linden finished 2-for-3. Picking up one hit apiece were Teagen Harings, Waggoner, Block and Hannah Henson.
