Sophomore Mike Stack set a Superior Senior High School record in the two-mile run at 9:53 in the Hibbing Invitational Track Meet. The Spartans, considered a pre-meet favorite, were edged by Hibbing with 76 ½ points to 74 points. Chuck Swanson won the 440-yard run, Tim Syring copped the long jump, and Pat Paquette won the shot put event. (1976)
Mary Golen and Craig Salo won the title in the 23rd annual Hennessy’s Mixed Doubles Bowling Tournament at the Three-Star Lanes. They combined for a 1,241 total. Runners-up were Sandy Abrahamson and Ron Quam, who had a total of 1,236 pins. (1981)
