Two vehicle rollovers occurred within 24 hours of each other in the city of Superior.

The first took place at 11:47 a.m. Monday at the intersection of North 20th Street and Cumming Avenue.

A Duluth man was driving a truck westbound along North 20th Street when he struck a southbound car driven by a Mellen woman. The truck rolled onto its side following the impact.

No injuries were reported, according to the Superior Police Department. Both operators were wearing their seat belts. Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.

The 28-year-old Duluth man was issued a citation for failing to yield the right of way at an uncontrolled intersection.

Traffic was backed up on the Blatnik Bridge Tuesday morning after an SUV approaching the onramp to the Blatnik Bridge in Superior flipped, coming to rest on its tires in the grassy area beside the bridge. The incident occurred at 9:33 a.m. According to Capt. Matt Markon with the Superior Police Department, the female driver reported that her ABS light came on and then she lost control of the vehicle.

Witnesses behind the vehicle reported that nothing seemed wrong until the SUV was suddenly out of control.

The 23-year-old driver was transported to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Hospital of Duluth after complaining of a hurt back. Neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the accident, Markon said. No citations were issued.
