Delivery of meth nets prison sentence

A Duluth woman will spend four years behind bars for dealing meth in Superior last spring.

Jessica Violet Bidler, 34, pleaded guilty in Douglas County Circuit Court in February to one felony count of delivery of meth. Two additional counts of delivery of meth were dismissed but read in for sentencing.

Monday, Bidler was sentenced to nine years imprisonment – four years initial imprisonment and five years extended supervision. Conditions of her supervision include maintaining absolute sobriety, providing a DNA sample, paying $1,150 in restitution and undergoing a chemical dependency evaluation and following recommendations. A $100 fine plus court costs and surcharge was also ordered.

Bidler sold 9.9 grams of meth with a street value of $1,150 to a confidential informant being monitored by Superior Police in April and May of 2011, according to the criminal complaint.

Judge Kelly Thimm noted Bidler’s extensive criminal history before he handed down the sentence. According to court records, she has 14 prior criminal convictions. The Duluth woman has been on probation 11 times, six of which were revoked. And she has served a one-year jail sentence previously. Due to her criminal history, the judge noted, probation was inappropriate.
