I really don’t understand what Representative Milroy is whining about in his letter to the Editor, “Walker raids fund that gives everyone a chance.”
Is he upset because he can no longer get free taxpayer money to fund his reelection campaign? The people who allowed a portion of their taxes to go to this reelection fund can still donate to the person of their choice either to the individual directly, or through various private campaign funds.
He states, “Eleven current lawmakers — seven Democrats and four Republicans — are beneficiaries of the campaign grant.”
According to the Wisconsin State Legislature web site, there are 131 members. In addition, there are numerous other elected officials, including the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, state treasurer, secretary of state, and superintendent of public instruction who were authorized to use this fund. If only eleven elected individuals used this fund, it was a poor use of our tax money and needed to go away. It seems to me this money should be used for more important needs within the state benefiting the citizens of this state.
Maybe Rep. Milroy should crawl out from the back pocket of his union friends and ask them to pay for his reelection campaign. Since it seems that his union friends are the only people he feels he needs to represent in our district, it stands to reason that they should pay for his reelection.
