Richard K. (Dick) Hanson, 87, died at his home peacefully, early Tuesday April 23, 2012, of causes related to age.

Dick was born in Superior on February 22, 1925. He remained in Superior until 1991 when he relocated to Corvallis, Ore. He worked at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, retiring after 40 years of service.

He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and during the off season, enjoyed watching baseball and golf. Dick, being a World War II veteran, was very aware of how the National Anthem should be sung. He was very vocal about all of the inflections and changes that different artists placed on the song. He always loved hearing it performed the way it was written.

Dick was a loving and caring husband and father. He was always there for his wife and sons. He would go out of his way to help out friends and family. He was an attentive and involved grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed deeply.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents Conrad and Freida (Anderson) Hanson, and brothers Robert, Wayne, Loren, (Dutch), and Marshall Hanson.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol, (LaFlamme) Hanson, three sons, John Hanson, Corvallis, Ore., Brad Lisdahl (Pamela Carey), Corvallis, Ore., and Mark Lisdahl (Debra Kienzle), Superior. He had three grandchildren, Tim Lisdahl, Michelle Storrs and Michael Lisdahl, four great-grandchildren, Zane, Carter, Sam, and Arabella, as well as several nieces and nephews.

An open house remembrance will be held at his home, date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society as he has had many family and friends affected by the disease.
