One of two teens who led authorities on a chase through the woods in October after getting a stolen truck stuck along Moccasin Mike Road was sentenced to one year probation last week in Douglas County Circuit Court.
Brandon Lee Phillips, 18, of Duluth pleaded no contest to misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle without consent-passenger, obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from the Oct. 18 incident. He was sentenced to one year probation with the condition that he serve three days jail, undergo personal counseling and follow recommendations and pay $250 restitution. Phillips can apply for expunction of the case when he turns 20.
As an added incentive for the Duluth man, the judge left a 120 day jail sentence hanging over his head. The imposed and stayed sentence would be triggered automatically if Phillips’ probation is revoked.
