The Superior High School girls soccer team went through three goalies Thursday on its way to a 5-1 loss to the Spooner Rails.
Back-up goalie Kristina Manion started the game for Superior. The freshman had two saves in the first 20 minutes of play before she took a knee to the head and was sidelined for the remainder of the game. Allison Gotelaere, who usually plays at forward, finished out the first half in goal for the Spartans with one save. Missy Toland then took over for the second half and had two saves.
Spooner, meanwhile, thrived behind the play of goalkeeper Brittany Styer, who finished with 15 saves.
The Rails scored four goals in the first half and one in the second. Sarah Slaminski and Maddy Martin both had two goals apiece for Spooner, and Lexi Collins had one. Clare Ringlien had three assists for the Rails.
Superior scored its only goal in the second half. Catie Albrecht made the shot at 56:32, assisted by Gotelaere.
The Spartans are now 4-4 overall and 4-2 in the Middle Border Conference.
There was no junior varsity game Thursday.
