Hartley Nature Center is working again with the W.J. McCabe chapter of the Izaak Walton League to host Youth Outdoor Expo 2012 at Hartley Park.

On May 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., kids ages 7-15 are invited for a day of outdoor-themed fun and exploration.

Kids will work their way through stations where they will have a chance to try fly tying, bird banding, fly casting, exploring the aquatic world, a laser hunting simulation, building a birdhouse, and more.

There will be many experts on hand to help with activities and answer questions, and we’ll have fun exploring. Once again Subway will provide a sandwich for every registered child for lunch and Cold Stone will be providing ice cream.

Because we can only accept the first 125 kids, early pre-registration is required for this free outdoor event. So be sure to call (218) 724-6735 and get signed up as soon as possible. Registration is now open but space is limited.
