Piano students audition for state competition
Eight piano students qualified to compete at the state level following local music auditions April 1 at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, sponsored by the Superior Area Music Teachers Association.
Eight piano students qualified to compete at the state level following local music auditions April 1 at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, sponsored by the Superior Area Music Teachers Association.
The state competition will be on May 19 at UW-Eau-Claire.
Heading to state competition are Ben Hintzman, Elizabeth Evans, Jordan Pauley, Sannah Arvidson-Hicks, Hans Arvidson-Hicks, Ellen Stoll, Kristina Bock and Christaia Houser.
Cedric Heller received the High School Award for participating in all four years of high school and the 12-year award for participating all 12 years of school.
There were 64 participants in piano and vocal entries. The six teachers represented in the auditions were Beth Gilbert, Robert Grube, Tammy Jo Weber, Kate Olaf, Alex Sandor and Ruby Thomas.
Points are awarded each year and accumulated over time.
Natalie Sandor, Stanley Wu, Suzy Warring, Joseph Weber, London Jonasen, Jasmine Domecq, Sara Garland, Kathleen Smart, Kaia Orme, Elizabeth Kolanczyk, Elizabeth Evans and Alex Kasparak received their 22-point plaque.
Addie Heller, Maraise Houser and Ben Hintzman received their 50-point plaque and Elise Hintzman and Ellen Stoll received their 100-point plaque. Receiving their 125-point bar were Kristina Bock, Justine Moss, Gavin Heller and Karinne Houser, and Christaia Houser received her 175-point bar.
