Three injured in two-vehicle accident in Bayfield County
Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 2 shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, according to the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department.

The roads were snow, ice and slush covered when Danette Dashner of Hurley lost control of her vehicle as she traveled westbound on U.S. Highway 2 east of U.S. Highway 63 in the town of Eileen. Dashner lost control of the vehicle and drove into the oncoming lane where she collided head on with a vehicle driven by Joseph Mulroy of Webster.
According to the sheriff’s department news release, Mulroy saw Dashner losing control of her vehicle and attempted to slow down; however, he was unable to avoid the collision.
Penelope Rowe of Saxon, Wis., was a passenger in Dashner’s vehicle.
All three occupants of the vehicles sustained injuries, and were transported to Memorial Medical Center Hospital by Ashland Emergency Medical Services.
The sheriff’s department reported that all occupants of the vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and airbags in both vehicles deployed. The vehicles were towed from the scene by Tomlinson’s Towing.
Bayfield County Sheriff’s officers responded to numerous weather-related calls such as reports of cars in the ditch and trees down in addition to the injury-related vehicle crash, during the rapidly changing road conditions this morning.
Bayfield Co. Sheriff's Office and Ashland Fire and EMS responded to the crash.
