Virginia A. Butler, 87, of Superior, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Benedictine Health Center, Duluth.

Virginia A. Butler, 87, of Superior, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Benedictine Health Center, Duluth.

She was born July 25, 1924 in Superior, daughter of Leo and Bessie (Pawlikowski) Homsey.

Virginia’s work history included the F.B.I.’s fingerprint division in Washington, D.C., an operator for Wisconsin Bell Telephone and many years as a homemaker.

She was a long time member of Cathedral of Christ the King.

Collecting coins and stamps, daily journaling and loving animals were special interests of hers.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and husband, Joseph L. Butler, in 1996.

Survivors include her daughter, Darleen Butler, Superior; many cousins; and her special feline friend, “Peter.”

A special thank you to the caring staff at the Benedictine Health Center, Sister Mary Susan DeWitt, staff Chaplin and St. Luke’s Hospice, Duluth.

Visitation will be 9 until the 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Tuesday, April 17 at Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior.

Reverend Father Andrew P. Ricci will be the celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue Federation (ARF) or to the Douglas County Humane Society.

Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th St., Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
