LETTER: Stay away from our majestic lake
To the Telegram: Until I read the letter from T. Gjerde published in We the People on March 31, I did not know that our Democratic Sen. Bob Jauch had so much power that he could single-handedly thwart the efforts of Gogebic Taconite. (Sarcasm intended, as Peter Johnson would say).

Kudos to Sen. Jauch and anyone else who kept that operation away from our beloved Lake Superior.
Yes, jobs are sorely needed in our Northland, but not at the risk of harming the largest fresh water lake in the world.
Of course Gov. Scott Walker and his puppeteers were all for it, they don’t live in this beautiful area.
Walker and team sat in the southern end of the state and tried to shove the Gogebic thing through as fast as they could to avoid dealing with regulations that might have taken just enough time for us rednecks to their North to figure out it was not in the best interest of the people or the lake.
They even concluded all on their own that Bob Jauch was against the whole thing before he had even has a chance to study the issue and make up his mind.
Perhaps that was their main goal, to keep people from looking into the situation and deciding for themselves.
I hope Senator Jauch will be first in line to say “no!” when the dumping of nuclear waste from the west coast is proposed for Northern Wisconsin or Northern Minnesota.
Once again, I say “stay away from Lake Superior with your garbage.” Dig a big hole and bury it where you make it.
