Now is the time to stand up and speak out against sexual violence.
The Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse and University of Wisconsin-Superior are joining forces to set the stage Monday by hosting a “Speak Out.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to join CASDA and the UWS Gender Equity Program in the effort to shine a light on the horrors victims of sexual abuse and violence face as a part of sexual assault awareness month.
The event begins at 4 p.m. the UWS’ Yellowjacket Union, lot 2, with a barbecue, march and walk to the Douglas County Courthouse.
The “Speak Out” runs 5-7 p.m. at the Courthouse to inform the community about the dangers of sexual assaults and recognize the victims.
CASDA and UWS Gender Equity Program have collaborated in organizing a “Speak Out” against sexual assault, sexual violence and sexual abuse in our community.
The march will head down Belknap Avenue and will end at the steps of the Courthouse.
The “Speak Out” includes Mayor Bruce Hagen, state Sen. Bob Jauch, D-Poplar, state Rep. Nick Milroy, D-South Range, and victim testimonies, support initiatives, music, food and more.
The event is open to Superior residents and anyone who wants to take a stand against sexual violence in any of our surrounding communities. Free parking is available in lot 2 located near the Yellowjacket Union. For more, contact CASDA’s 24-hour helpline at (715) 392-3136 or go to www.casda.org.
