Barrett plans stops in Ashland, Superior in gubernatorial run

Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett will make a campaign swing through northern Wisconsin today and Friday with former Congressman Dave Obey.

Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett will make a campaign swing through northern Wisconsin today and Friday with former Congressman Dave Obey.

Barrett and Obey will visit Wausau, Rhinelander, Ashland, Superior, and Rice Lake. Barrett will announce the endorsements of several leaders from northern Wisconsin during the tour. Barrett will also visit the Eau Claire area on this swing.

Barrett, Milwaukee’s mayor, said he is running for governor to end Scott Walker’s “ideological civil war that has torn our state apart, and bring Wisconsin together again.” Tom will move us forward by focusing on jobs, protecting education, and restoring collective bargaining rights.

Today, Barrett is scheduled for a stop in Ashland for an endorsement event with state Sen. Bob Jauch, D-Poplar, and state Rep. Janet Bewley, D-Ashland.

Barrett, Jauch, Obey and state Rep. Nick Milroy will be at the Superior Democratic Party Headquarters, 1810 Belknap St., at 9 a.m. Friday before heading to Rice Lake.
