The Superior High School girls soccer team lost 2-1 Thursday evening at New Richmond.
The loss drops the Spartans to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the Middle Border Conference.
Trailing 2-0, Superior’s Cassie Hanson scored with 49 seconds remaining with an assist from Ally Gotelaere.
Sara Balcer finished with two saves for the Spartans, who put five shots on the Tigers’ net.
Abby Skoyen gave New Richmond a 1-0 lead 5:18 into the game with a corner kick that deflected past Balcer off a Spartan player.
Tina Monpetit scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal at 54:36 of the second half.
The Spartans are back in action at 4:30 p.m. Thursday when they host the Barron Golden Bears.
