Mikel, Leland March Rotarians

Hannah Leland and Richard Mikel, seniors at Superior High School, have been selected as Student Rotarians for March by the Superior Rotary Club. Leland is a member of the National Honor Society and the Senior Mentor Program.

Hannah Leland and Richard Mikel, seniors at Superior High School, have been selected as Student Rotarians for March by the Superior Rotary Club.

Leland is a member of the National Honor Society and the Senior Mentor Program. She is also the captain of the Spartan dance team. Outside of school, she volunteers at St. Mary’s Hospital, Superior. Next fall, Leland plans to attend the College of St. Scholastica to study nursing. She is the daughter of Bonnie and Chip Leland.

Mikel is a member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, DECA, and Pledge Makers. He is also a participant in the Superior-Douglas County Youth Leadership Program. In addition, Mikel volunteers at the food shelf, teaches younger students how to skate, and serves as a coach for Fire Wagon Hockey as well as helps direct rink activities for the program.

He plans to attend either the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities or the University of Wisconsin next year to study biology and to continue his studies in medical school. He is the son of Susan and Kevin Mikel.

During the school year, Student Rotarians attend Rotary meetings and provide club members with opportunities to learn about high school programs and activities as well as the accomplishments and concerns of Superior youth. Each year the Superior Rotary Club awards two scholarships to students graduating from Superior High School. Information is available from school counselors.
