LETTER: GOP sets women’s rights back in state

To the Telegram: I am having trouble understanding how woman can support the Republican Party. As I understand it, Republicans are for less government in people’s lives. They do not want the government telling us what we can and cannot do, unless you are a woman. Then they want to be involved.

I am having trouble understanding how woman can support the Republican Party. As I understand it, Republicans are for less government in people’s lives. They do not want the government telling us what we can and cannot do, unless you are a woman. Then they want to be involved.

The latest thing Republicans in office have done is to make life more difficult for working woman to be able to fight for equal pay. Right now, in Wisconsin, women make 75 percent of what a man does in the same job. I guess Republicans must think that they deserve less. Senate Bill 202, which Republicans passed and the governor signed, make it more difficult for women to get equal pay. Women now have to take their fight for equal pay to the federal courts, not the state.

I would like to hear from some Republican woman on how this is a good thing for working women. It would be interesting to hear their spin on it. I would especially like to hear from local Republican politician, Bonnie Baker, on how this new lay is beneficial for Wisconsin working women. If Ms. Baker is interested in continuing her political career in Wisconsin, we need to know her stance on this topic.
