Valoice Simons

Valoice Simons, 80, South Range, died Monday, April 9, 2012, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 25, 1931 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Clarence Dixon and Edna Whiting.

She married Clarence Simons Jan. 10, 1996 in Forrest Lake, Minn. and celebrated 17 years of marriage.

Valoice was employed as a realtor for Centennial Real Estate Co. and retired in 1996.

She was a fun loving, devoted wife, stepmother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, sports, knitting and crafts. She loved to cook and try new recipes. She was a selfless person that cared for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one step-great-grandchild, Wyatt Hanna; two sisters, Ruth Shay and Marlys Fredrickson; two brothers, Richard and Bud and a nephew, Robbie Dixon.

In addition to her husband Clarence, Valoice is survived by a special niece, Brenda Ferreira, North Branch, Minn.; a sister, Betty Sampson, Chicago, Ill.; four step-daughters, Cherry (John) Hanna, Poplar, Becky (Dave) O'Brien, Cloquet, Minn., Sandy Jo (Tony) Pison, Hawthorne, Casey (Dan) Huray, Solon Springs; four step-sons, Robert (Judy) Simons, Valley Center, Calif., Randy (Becky) Simons, Hawthorne, Brian (Jeni) Simons, Cloquet, Minn.; Andy Simons, Superior; 13 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 10 until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service on Friday, April 13, in the Whispering Pines Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Thomas Lindberg, officiating.

Burial will take place at a later date in Parkview Cemetery in Hawthorne.
