Robert M. Pollock, 93, of Superior, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at the Golden Living Center.
Bob was born in Superior on Sept. 26, 1918, the son of Ernest and Mary Pollock.
He graduated from Central High School in Superior and then served his country during World War II in the United States Army, serving in Europe and the Panama Canal.
He married Connie Albright on June 27, 1944, and they celebrated 59 years of marriage together until her death on April 8, 2004.
Bob was a postal clerk retiring in 1976, after over 30 years of service. He was also the sexton at Greenwood Cemetery for many years. He was a life member of the Douglas County Blood Bank. He loved his Green Bay Packers and was a stock holder. He also loved the Wisconsin Badgers. He enjoyed bowling with the vet's league in South Superior. Before running was in style there was our dad running for exercise all over the streets of South Superior. Mom and Dad were dedicated gardeners while living on the Darrow Road.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Connie; a brother, Eugene; and a sister, Joyce.
Bob is survived by his three children, Diane Preston of Tucson, Ariz., Robert Pollock of Superior and Kim (Byron) Mayfield of Tucson; a granddaughter, Wendy Preston of Clinton, Mass.; niece, Judy Sedin of Superior; and nephews David (Rose) Pollock of Superior and James (Sherry) Sutton of Babbitt, Minn.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday April 12, at 11 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Ron Henely of St. Mary's Hospice will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435.
The family would like to say thank you to all the staff at the ASU unit in Golden Living and a very special friend and caregiver Cathy Maccoux.
