Hovland Inc., Dodgie's win Gilbertson titles

Hovland Inc. and Dodgies 40+ won their respective divisions in the 6th annual Keith Gilbertson Memorial Senior Hockey Tournament this weekend at the Superior Ice Arena.

Hovland went undefeated on the weekend in the Over 30 division, including a 5-2 win over Edward Jones/O’Neill’s Pub in the championship game. Hovland also defeated Jones/O’Neill’s 3-2 during pool play earlier in the tournament.

Members of the winning team were goaltender Rob Anderson, Lon Hovland, Rodney Graham, Steve Moe, Tony Huberty, Josh Mickovich, Jason Kuettel, Mike Curry, Craig Janzig, Scott Ferguson, James Pascoe, Steve Sayovitz, Steve Rodberg, Joe Bacun and Ryan Bordson.

On the second place team were goaltender Chad Beiswenger, Greg Aker, Jason Kalin, Josh Seifert, Matt Christie, Kevin Kuklinski, Anthony Dowlinsek, Eric Gangelhoff, Nate Timm, Kyle Antobelli, Kerry Conley, Jesse Junkermeier and Craig Pierce.

Dodgie’s defeated Two Hands on a Stick 5-4 overtime in the Over 40 championship game.

Members of Dodgie’s are goaltender Randy Hansen, Bob Clemins, Perry Dubchak, Barry Marmus, Tim Sundstrom, Rick Eisenmann, Rick Johnson, Chris Kaske, Bruce Meyers, Mark Wiess, Jeff Miller, Mike Rapiach, Ernie Harker and Wade Robertson.

Another highlight on the weekend was Jimmy’s Saloon winning its first game in the six-year history of the tournament with a 5-2 victory over Twin Ports Lighting in the Over 40 division.

Proceeds go to the Keith Gilbertson Memorial Fund and youth hockey in Superior.
