Neuhaus Vernice R. (Tusha) Neuhaus, 92, of Duluth, and formerly of Superior, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospice in Duluth.
Vernice R. (Tusha) Neuhaus, 92, of Duluth, and formerly of Superior, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospice in Duluth.
She was born Sept. 29, 1919 in Verdigre, Neb. to Rudolph and Bertha Tusha.
She lived in Omaha, Neb. where she was a mother, bookkeeper and in real estate sales. In 1978, Vernice moved back to Superior, to be with her family and purchased the Sleepy Hollow Motel which she owned and operated until her retirement.
Vernice was a great seamstress and cook. She was also a loving mother and grandmother.
Vernice is survived by her daughter, Joy Higgins, Superior; grandson, David (Denise) Ranta, Superior; granddaughter, Taimi Ranta, Maple; three nephews, Marlin (Donna) Tusha, and Chris and Greg Goodrich; one niece, D'Arcy Goodrich; great-grandsons, Casey and Steven Ranta and great-granddaughter Ayla Ranta; and many cousins and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Viola Tusha (her twin sister), Lydia Tusha and Gaynelle Goodrich, and brothers Marvin and Edward Tusha.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 31, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and continue until the 3:00 p.m. memorial service with Rev. Will Mowchan officiating.
The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Ave., Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
