The third annual Superior Distance Swim Challenge will be held March 31 at the Superior High School pool. Hourly assigned waves will begin at 9 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
The SDSC is the region’s only community swim event that includes all age groups and abilities. The Swim Challenge is a fun and informal event for a wide range of swimmers, and is serves as a fundraiser for SHS swimming and diving programs.
The mission of the SDSC is, “to promote lifelong health recreation and to grow the regional swimming community across all age groups and abilities,” said event coordinator Randy Back.
The all-time SDSC individual one-hour record holder Amy Flessert of Superior will be attempting to break her 2011 record in the 4,400-yard event again this year.
Swim Challenge events include the one-hour team individual challenges (now closed for entries) one-half mile and mile events. Individuals can still sign-up for the half-mile and mile individual swim categories up to the day of the event.
Lap swimmers, triathletes, families and age group participants are welcome to swim. All participants will receive a swim cap and T-shirt for their entry.
