Spartan girls lose at Marshfield

The Marshfield Tigers defeated the Superior High School girls basketball team 62-40 in a WIAA Division 1 regional championship game Saturday night in Marshfield.

There were at least six ties in the first quarter that ended with Marshfield leading 15-13.

Superior was leading 23-20 in the second quarter when Jessica Lindstrom picked up her third foul and was sent to the bench.

Marshfield scored six of the next eight points for a 26-25 lead at halftime.

Superior’s Hailey Kontny scored 12 of her team-leading 17 points in the first half.

The Tigers blew the game open in the third quarter, making five 3-point baskets as they took a 45-32 lead into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was much of the same for Marshfield, which largest lead was 23 points, 56-33.
