Allan D. Wilson, 47, Superior, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minn. He was surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.

Allan D. Wilson, 47, Superior, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minn. He was surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.

Allan was born on Feb. 8, 1965, in Waukegan, Ill. to Dale Wilson and Kathryn (Nykanen) Wilson.

He served his country in the United States Marine Corps in San Diego, Calif. He also resided in Minneapolis, Minn. for 20 years before returning to Superior.

Allan was most recently employed as a grain inspector for the State of Wisconsin.

He enjoyed cooking and received his certification in restaurant management.

He loved music, movies, martial arts, motorcycles and enjoyed playing his guitar.

He was an avid Vikings fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Allan is survived by this mother, Kathryn Nikula, Superior; his father, Dale (Grace) Wilson, Superior; two sisters, Sharon (Daoud) Ahmad, Duluth, Jennifer Wilson, Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Paul (Geralyn) Wilson, Brooklyn Park, Minn., Michael Wilson, Ramsey, Minn.; one stepsister, Elizabeth (Ian) Friedrich, Lincoln, Neb.; three stepbrothers, Ben (Sarah) Johnson, Cloquet, Minn., Randy (Karin) Nikula, Maplewood, Minn. Tony Nikula, Maple Grove, Minn.; one niece, Lily Wilson; three nephews, Joe Wilson, Khalil Ahmad, Alex Diez de Pinos and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Raymond Nikula; his grandparents John and Ethel Nykanen and Ralph and Helen Wilson; his aunt Dolly Johnson and uncles Harold and Wesley Wilson.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, March 10, at Christ Lutheran Church in Superior. Rev. David Schoessow will officiate.

Interment will be in the Nemadji Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 435.

Pallbearers for the service will be Shawn Brown, Tim Baum, Dave Draper, Randy Kruger, Luke Rekve and Tony Nikula.
