Superior: Pancake breakfast at the Superior-Douglas County Senior Center, 1527 Tower Ave., runs 9 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for kids. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee.

Superior: The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center hosts a free program at 10 a.m. with author Anthony Bukoski. In his program, “A Father and Son Go to War,” Bukoski discusses his experiences as a young Marine who was part of the first large contingent to arrive in Vietnam on March 8, 1965. He looks at his service in comparison to his father’s voyages as part of the Merchant Marine in World War II. The author will display items from his father’s wartime service and his books will be available to purchase and have signed. Free.

Grand Rapids, Minn.: The 23rd annual Grand Rapids Doll Club, Doll, Bear and Toy Sale runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sawmill Inn, 2301 S. Highway 169. Cost is $2.50 for adults, $0.50 for children. Door prizes are given out every half hour. With your admission, you will receive free admission to the Children’s Museum to see Faith Wick’s doll display. Superior: Enjoy the seventh annual Ziigwan/Spring Pow Wow, put on by the Superior Schools Title VII, JOM Indian Education Program, at the Superior Middle School. There will be grand entries at 1 and 7 p.m. with a feast at 5 p.m. Children 12 and younger must attend with adult supervision. Free.

Superior: Aaron Isaacs, who researched and wrote a book about Twin Ports’ trolleys, is the guest speaker for History Sunday 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Historical Society, 1101 John Ave. The session is sponsored by Superior Rotary 40. Superior: Alice Yeates, a plant ecologist, talks about invasive exotic species research she conducted in Northern New South Wales, Australia during the Lake Superior Master Gardener meeting in the community room at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College. A business meeting will be held at 6 p.m. followed by the presentation at 6:30 p.m. Free. A free will offering to aid local community garden projects will be accepted.

Superior: Cathedral School starts Kindergarten registration with a roundup for children attending Kindergarten in fall 2012 and their families. Information sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Parents interested in attending the sessions can RSVP at (715) 392-2976. For students entering middle school in fall 2012, Cathedral School has an information night on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Room 203 of the school.

Duluth: The Lake Superior Marine Museum Association and Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center host an annual Spring Cleaning Day at the Visitor Center, 600 S. Lake Ave., in historic Canal Park. Volunteers are needed 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to dust, update various displays and exhibits, polish brass, make sure electronic equipment is in working order and assist Park Rangers with any special projects.
