It is my opinion the reasons to recall Gov. Scott Walker are growing every day. When we see injustices, we should try to correct it.
His jobs program, the Gogebic Taconite mines, will be a disaster for Wisconsin. This is not pick and shovel mining. The people have a right to know the truth. State officials are not being honest. The Gogebic Taconite mine will destroy wetlands with their wastes. Penokee Range contains 23 of the highest quality streams. It is at the head of the highest quality watershed in the state. It is upstream of a state park, an Indian reservation and their rice beds, Kakagon Sloughs and Lake Superior plus many other lakes. They tell us it is about jobs, but it is the mining industry that will make the big money. Minnesota and Michigan have already filed millions of new dollars of lawsuits against the companies for air and water violations. We cannot let them destroy Wisconsin.
Pioneer Environmentalists like John Muir, Aldo Leopold, Gaylord Nelson and many others, including Teddy Roosevelt, have all worked for years to put laws in place to protect our environment and wildlife. We cannot let them lower the regulations for the mining companies; when for years, the farmers, cheesemakers, factories, barbers and bakers, etc., all had rules to follow to protect our health and environment. This is all the land we will ever have. We need to get rid of Scott Walker and all his cronies because we can’t trust them.
