Student still missing after extensive search

The search resumes Monday in Stevens Point for a college student who remains missing despite an extensive weekend search by police and dozens of volunteers.

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) — Stevens Point police say they're searching the Wisconsin River for a missing college student who may have accidently walked into the water.

Assistant Chief Brian Kudronowicz (kah-DRA'-nah-wihtz) said firefighters were on boats Monday searching for 21-year-old Eric Duffey. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point student disappeared early Saturday morning after celebrating his 21st birthday.

Since then, police and volunteers have been scouring neighborhoods near downtown Stevens Point where Duffey was last seen.

Kudronowicz says Duffey may have walked into the river. He says alcohol could be a factor.
