Boy Scout Troop 202, sponsored by United Presbyterian Church, presents the Eagle Scout award to Nicholas Kirchoff at a special ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 320 N. 28th St., Superior.
Nicholas is the son of Chris and Amy Kirchoff, and brother of Stacie and James.
Nick has been a member of Troop 202 for the past seven years. During his scouting career, he served as patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, and quartermaster and den chief. When Nick joined Troop 202 in 2005, there were 10 other boys in the troop. Three of those original members have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Nick has earned 30 merit badges — 21 are needed to make Eagle, twelve of which are required for Eagle. Water skiing was his favorite of the badges he earned.
Nick’s Eagle project, which took place in fall 2010, consisted building 10 wooden benches and digging a fire pit and lining it with brick out at the School Forest. With the help of friends and family, the project was completed in roughly 10 hours.
Nick will graduate from Superior High School in 2012. He will be attending the University of North Dakota where he plans to major in history with a minor in military science.
