National Bank of Commerce hires, promotes staff

National Bank of Commerce, the area’s largest, locally-owned bank, has announced the hiring of two new staff members and the promotion of one other in its downtown Superior bank location.

Caillin M. Flynn has joined the bank as a commercial loan operations supervisor. She has been in the banking industry for 16 years, with a main concentration on commercial banking. Prior to joining NBC she worked at US Bank, Republic Bank and Western Bank, all in Duluth.

Amy Nelson is the NBC’s new executive administrative assistant and board secretary. Prior to joining NBC she worked in the Iowa banking industry for 15 years – the past seven as a personal banker, loan processor and retail banking administrative assistant at Liberty Bank in West Des Moines.

Betsy L. Skerik, who began working in NBC’s commercial and mortgage departments in 2002, and most recently served as a retail loan operations supervisor, has been promoted to underwriter.

Three new managers are also working in its downtown Superior bank location.

Valerie Blanchenay serves in the bank’s new position of vice president, marketing director, joining NBC after six years as marketing director at Cirrus Aircraft in Duluth. During her 18 year career she’s also worked at the Carmichael Lynch advertising agency in Minneapolis, and with the New York offices of Carlson Marketing Group and Wunderman Cato Johnson.

Chris Hogan has joined NBC as a new vice president, commercial banker. He has 12 years of business banking experience, having served as a commercial lender at both the Wells Fargo International Falls bank and at the Deerwood Bank in Bemidji.

Cammy Hansen is NBC’s new assistant vice president, retail loan administration department manager. She began her banking career 20 years ago and has served in roles that included vice president, retail banking manager at Duluth’s Republic Bank.

National Bank of Commerce has four banks in Wisconsin — two in Superior, and one each in Poplar and Solon Springs — and Minnesota bank locations in Duluth and Hermantown. Its web address is nbofc.com.
